Our Story

A little bit about the owner and how Hygge Camp Studio began.

Jessies Story -

Hello Gorgeous,

My name is Jessie, and I am the owner of Hygge Camp Studio! Now you may notice that there are 2 stories on this get to know us page, and I'll tell you why! My amazing sister Katie created Hygge Camp Studio. I wanted to keep her story up here on why she created Hygge Camp Studio, because I feel like it is an important story!

Growing up, I looked up to my siblings a whole bunch! I was always trying to be like my brother and sister. And in a lot of ways, I am! All my siblings and I get our creativity from our mom. Our mom can make something out of anything! I was a little bit nervous about taking over Hygge Camp Studio, because I did not know if I could make earrings as good or creative, or pretty as my sister's. I will say there were quite a few learning curves, not only making the earring but figuring out how to run the business. I had a slight idea, as I was always my sister's right-hand man when we went to art markets and festivals. But with a lot of help and guidance from my sister, we figured everything out together, and I am so incredibly grateful to her.

At a young age, I moved out of the home I grew up in my whole life and moved across the country to be with my husband, who is a Sailor in the U.S Navy. As some may know, the military loves to spring stuff on you last minute. Well, I learned this the hard way. 5 months before it was supposed to be our wedding, the Navy let us know that my husband was going to be deployed 2 weeks before our wedding. Devastated, I canceled all wedding plans and we got married privately, a few months early, surrounded by family. That October came, and saying goodbye for our first deployment was incredibly hard. After that, I was very lost and did not know what to do with myself. I was constantly anxious, waiting to hear any sign from him that he and the ship were okay and still afloat. This is when my sister suggested I try making earrings with her. It always was her escape. Just to go into her little studio, put on some good music (Shane Smith and The Saints or Whisky Myers, of course), or Grey's Anatomy and just get lost in creativity. Raising 3 amazing girls, being a girl boss, and taking on more work as a heavy equipment operator, she lost time to keep up with the business as much as she used to. This is when she proposed the idea to me and asked if I would like to take over the business. I very happily accepted, as I loved to make earrings also, and it was something to keep me occupied while my husband was gone. And this is where we land! Almost 2 years later, now, the earring business moved down to sunny Florida with me, and I'm still rocking out in my studio making earrings!

Now, here is a little bit about me!

My name is Jessie, but everyone usually calls me Jess. I'm 20 years old and I live in Florida! I have been married to my husband, Cadan, for 2 years now, and we are high school sweethearts! We started dating in 8th grade, and we have been inseparable ever since! We have 2 German Shorthaired Pointers, Oakley Mae and Bandit Boone; they are our babies. We treat them like they are our children, and they know it! They both have such big personalities, it is an absolute blast watching them grow up from puppies and grow into their big puppy feelings and personalities. My husband and I are very outdoorsy people; we can never sit still, and we always have to be on the move! Our favorite things to do are taking the pups to the park and taking them on hikes. We are working up to the beach, but both our dogs are not so fond of the water, so we are not quite ready to walk on the beach yet with them! When I'm not in the studio making earrings, I'm at work (which is my happy place, believe it or not!). I am the Chair of Volunteers for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. Our mission is to provide financial education and financial help to sailors and marines around the world. I absolutely love my job! Our society is non-profit, and the majority of our staff are volunteers!  I love being able to help those who serve us. Seeing how one little act on my part can change the lives of sailors and marines is my favorite part of the job! I love making people happy, and I think that is my favorite part of Hygge Camp Studio, too! Getting to create earrings that may bring someone joy in a hard time is the reason I do this! I could just make a bunch of earrings and keep them all (and believe me, it is hard not to sometimes), but seeing how happy they make people or how they may be a conversation starter that starts up a lifelong friendship is the highlight of all of this for me!

I hope that you all enjoy these earrings as much as I do! Remember that each and every piece is made by hand, unique, and made with so much love and good vibes! Always remember that you are who you are for a reason; you are brave, fierce, and beautiful. As a wise lady once said in my favorite movie, “ You is kind, you is smart, you is important.” Always remember that!

Thank you all so much for being here, for all your orders, and for all the support you show us! Even if it's just a like or share on Facebook, it means so much to me! So, thank you! You all, each and every one of you, mean the world to me!

  • Love with so much love, Jess <3

Katies Story -

Hello, beautiful human!

My name is Katie, and I’m the creator of Hygge Camp Studio. Let me begin by thanking you with all of my heart for being here!

The word hygge (pronounced hue-guh) isn’t a thing but a feeling. It’s a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that creates a feeling of contentment or well-being. You know, its that warm fuzzy feeling you get at your favorite place or when you’re with your favorite people. The most wonderful woman in the world, my mom, once told me that my home is hygge. From then on I’ve worked to make my whole life hygge!

So, who am I? First and foremost, and above all else, I’m a mom. I have three incredible daughters. The oldest, Lillie, and her younger twin sisters, JoLee and Jane. I quit my job of ten years in 2018 to stay home and raise my babies. Only being possible because of the love of my life, their strong, loving and supportive daddy, Joe. In the last few years I have discovered so many new things about myself that I never had time for while being a working mom. One of them being my creative side. Making things and using my hands has always been something I enjoy, but a construction workers schedule doesn’t lend itself well to creating jewelry and macramé. After much encouragement from family and friends Hygge Camp Studio was born! That has now grown into a small business and a chance for me to share the creations I love with the rest of the world with hopes you all love them as much as I do.

Being a mom and a small business owner is tough from time to time but it ultimately allows me to be there for my babes and contribute financially, after all it can be a struggle being a one income household these days. That is why I can’t say thank you enough! Whether you’re a first time buyer, repeat customer, or just browsing, my family and I appreciate you so very much. Small business like mine thrive because of extraordinary people like you.

I sincerely hope you find something here that speaks to your soul and you enjoy it for many years to come. Check back often for new and exciting creations and deals you wouldn’t want to miss. If you’re looking for something specific or want a totally custom creation, please don’t hesitate to contact me at Hyggecampstudio@yahoo.com.

Stay Kind

Stay Centered

Stay Healthy

Tons of love,

Katie
